DSL ONLINE Chat
We are routing you to a chat representative. Thank you for contacting Verizon Online DSL. Your average wait time is 4 seconds.
You are now chatting with David.
David: Hello. Thank you for visiting our DSL chat service. How can I help you with your DSL questions?
you: How come I can't find a package with more than 384k upload?
David: Our highest speed range offers 1.5Mbs download and 768Kbs upload. Have you pre-qualified your line yet?
David: When ordering DSL, your service will be provisioned at either 1.5mbps/384kbps or 768kbps/384kbps speeds based on Verizon Online's standard loop qualification guidelines. When you pre-qualify your telephone number for DSL service, the website will tell you the maximum speed for which your number qualified.
you: I beleive I did. Is that why? It knows the distance of my house.
David: Actually, there are a number of factors that influence speed, including the condition of your telephone line, the wiring inside your location, the amount of congestion on the Internet itself, and the speed of the web sites or servers that you connect to on the Internet. For all these reasons, the actual connection and throughput speeds of the service are not guaranteed.
you: Ok, If it is telling me that I have 1.5MPS upload and 384k download it's most likely a good connection. Do I have prequalify in another way to get specific information?
David: If you were provided with the slower speed range when you pre-qualified, that is the highest speed that can be guaranteed at this time. However, when DSL service is installed, we will always provided the highest speed available, which may be faster, of course.
you: OK, Thank you. That help in my research.
David: You're welcome. Are you ready to begin placing your order? I'd be happy to assist you.
you: Not yet. I still have to gather more info. Thank you.
