weekend work

We were at the poconos again this weekend. I mowed the grass with a light cheap lawn mower from Walmart, weed wacked the whole property, and used the blower until the cord untied itself from the flywheel. I couldn't get my chainsaw running so I hand cut a tree that was hanging over one end of the U driveway. That took a bit of time but felt like testostorone pumping in my viens when I was done. Last week I bought a folding ladder that can expand to 24'. It has all kinds of configurations and looks very handy. In reality it is but it's so heavy you try to avoid using the longer extensions. I almost took out our windows and one wall trying to get that thing to extend in a straight ladder. The step ladder was easier to configure. I'm beat. Next weekend in my bday weekend and K is getting me a boat but it won't be ready to go when we buy it due to registration of the boat w/ PA and w/ the association. I'm taking my fishing rods up

On saturday I took annie out for a long walk next to the lake. Near the damn we saw baby ducks struggling to get up the spillway. All but one made it and after 10 minutes of watching the last one try I decided to try to help it. Annie was being good and didn't bark but I had to tie her up at the fence so she wouldn't try to follow me. As I walked onto the damn the little baby duck ran around and practically walked on water to get up and to his momma who was quacking the entire time. Annie loved the walk and since she's a bit overweight, was panting heavily. I'm hoping by the end of the summer she won't be as bad (myself included). In the edge of a parking lot I found a round stone the size of a baseball. I never found a stone so round before and it had only a couple of bumps. I decided to take it home.

That night I sat on the deck at twilight with a cigar and beer waiting for the bats to leave our roof. k sat out w/ me and we talked. It was something we don't get a chance to do often. We stayed there until a bug landed on his neck so he bolted for the door. He's got booksmarts but common sense isn't there yet. Last night he wanted english muffins so K broken them apart and put them on a plate. We gave them to him and told him to put them in the toaster. He did, with the plate too. It's scary sometimes that someone can be smart but do things so boneheaded.... I think he get's distracted and doesn't pay attention. Reminds me of me.

The beer and cigar were very relaxing and I tried not to worry about our visitors. We had the bat man come out to take a look at our bat problem. Well it seems we have squirels and probably had a racoon living in our roof at one time. Traps would be used to get rid of the squirels and bats but that means it take over a week barring rain to get rid of them.

Driving home on sunday I missed a bunch of good shots of the sunset. Bu chance I caught it in the rear-view mirror and I saw a big orange sun between two mountains. I really wanted to get a shot of that.
