Well, my system problems seem to be wrapped up. Sort of. I still can't get the antivirus software to run but I think that is a server issue since the device starts checks the server and then stops. My support guy says they just upgraded the server so there might be a problem w/ that.
So now I'm ready to begin my Websphere Portal quest for knowledge. I find a likely candidate/portlet I would like to start using but I'm informed by the admin that she doesn't want to do anything on this system to mess it up. Ok, I understand that but this is supposed to be a development system too. She wants to wait till we at least get our mainframe server up. That will be weeks from now in the mean time I'll have nothing to do. I can't run the test environment on my local desktop because it grinds my machine to a halt. Maybe we have a spare system with 1 gig that can handle WS Portal? Not likely. I need 1gig or more to run just the dev app let alone the test environment too. She has to learn the system and can't keep repairing it if we break it but that leaves me in a bit of a lull.
