So my manager comes to me two weeks ago saying a executive wants a contact list for their blackberry maintained in Lotus notes. Sounds simple. The problem is that we don't have a blackberry and we aren't supposed to have them. executives only. Plus our security folks decide that blackberry.com is a risk cause it allows you to download software to create the servers they are trying to control. So I'm told that the blackberry browsers don't support javascript so I setup everything without javascript which makes searching a bit more of a hassle. I get everything working and I find out that it's supposed to be matched up to an existing database. It so happens the one I used as a model so no big deal. After getting my hands on one for about 5 minutes I find out that they do support javascript it's just turned off. So I make some changes and gotta wait a day before I can test it again. Very efficient. I start working on it in chunks. The old method of hiding the automatically created submit button in browsers seems to be causing the blackberry a fit so once removed everything looks better. I start setting up the template and I think about access. Is this contact list secret? So I call up my contact directly since I have been getting my info from my busy boss. It turns out that this app has nothing to do w/ what my boss said it did. The exec. wants a contact list accessible via the blackberry and have his admin be able to update it. We can think of a better way now but it also means that I worked on poo for the last two weeks, wasting a hell of a lot of time. Thanks boss. So I'm gonna see if this solution will work and demo it next Wed.
Oh what fun.
Up to the poconos this weekend, I'm hoping for some fishing time or some camera time.
