Cheney vs Whittington
I'm sure it was an accident but the cover up and strangled communication out of the whitehouse is what people are focusing on.

Cheney was using No. 7 1/2 shot from a 28-gauge shotgun. Shotgun pellets typically are made of steel or lead; the pellets in No. 7 1/2 shot are just under one-tenth of an inch in diameter.
Hospital officials at Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial said they were not concerned about the six to 200 other pieces of birdshot that might still be lodged in Whittington's body.
The story that he was 30 yds away is a little hard to believe since they say between 6 - 200 pellets(small than b-b's) might be lodged between his forehead and torso. That's a pretty small blast radius for a 28-guage at 30 yds.
There is also question of how it was found out, it was two written press releases from the Whitehouse who kept referring to the VP office who then pointed at the ranch, it was a reporter who was tipped off by the ranch owner. Again it's a percieved stance that the whitehouse is not open nor forth coming with information.
