two late nights and counting

I had two problems with my internet connection although they weren't related.

1. Cable modem wasn't linking to router. It was reset and it started to work with a direct connect to Karen's laptop.

2. Linksys Router was reset back to factory settings. I fixed that but not after trying my new router which has much better flexibility and the ability to save the internal settings.

I also found out for sure that my laptop Dell Inspiron 8500 has a dead network port to go along with a bad power module. I can still use it w/ a wireless Network card or plugged into the laptop port replicator. I have not need to replace it because I don't travel and work but there will be times when I would like to take my laptop and use it somewhere else but can't because that power cord needs to be plugged in on bootup and I'm limited to wireless(huh funny)

So now I have two wireless networks running. One using WEP that everything is hooked too and one doing WPA which everything will be going too, unless it doesn't support WPA like my old wireless G cards. If I can't update them, I'm switching to wep-128 which is more secure than the current 64 bit encryption.

Nothing to report from our robbery. Xbox still missing and from Xbox support, doing a account recovery should shut down the stolen xbox if they choose to hook it up to the internet. However, what I told the support staff and they didn't seem to comprehend or remember is that I have a 2nd xbox1 and a 360. I didn't want to screw up my xbox1 as well.

Karen just called and we got some flooding up in the poconos. It seems like some drainage areas were clogged and a lot of water went into the lake. We should be ok but this is also coupled with the fact that our sump pump has been sounds funny lately. Great timing. We are more worried about the break-in but a bad sump pump will make us miserable too.
