Halo 3 launch line

Halo 3 launch line

I left home at 11pm thinking I'd be towards the front of any line. Mistake #1. My miscalculation was due to pre-ordering at a different location and forgetting that a college is literally right down the street from the Gamestop. When I get there at 11:05pm I see that there is already close to 100 in line. Damn. So I park and get at the end of the line. The line quickly fills in behind me but I lose site of it so I'm guessing that the number is close to 300. Most of them college kids. I am close to the oldest there. I brought my ipod but quickly got tired of standing listening to music or watching movies. As the line finally started moving I see very small groups of kids walking into the street w/ their bags at 11:55pm. Not many legendary boxes. The kids behind me are making fun of the people buying legendary packs. No surprise. No $$. About 20 minutes into the wait a large black Ford pickup comes by slowly and I hear what sounds like a snow ball spattering on the window of the shops in front of me and then something whizzes by my ear and hits the kid right behind me in the chest w/ a thud. A hollow thud. He is covered neck to belt in chicken embryo and shell. Crap, no one moves or does anything. You'd think that the twitch reflexes given to us in a game would have given us the ability to at least yell Noob! or something. Most of them laugh it off. 5 minutes later another red Chevy Suv goes by quicker and throws a couple of eggs but they don't have the arm strength to even reach the line 8' from the curb. One guy has the presence of mind to throw his soda at the truck which he misses but gets some soda on a few people behind him in line. The rest of the wait is us waiting impatiently for the 5 at a time going into the store to buy Halo 3 and watching for cars over our right shoulders.
