The typical New Jersey landowner pays about $6,000 in property taxes annually, twice the national average. Property taxes have been rising about 7 percent annually.Legislators are being asked to reconsider the property tax burden. It will be interesting to see how the state can deal with the shortfall if it does happen. A tiered system where the type of land/home/business will determine the amount of taxes paid. That seems fair. If your a business or have a home/office your making money from your household/place of work unlike a home owner.
